It is a well-known fact that the way to manage all the knowledge that is quickly generated represents an immense challenge for organizations. However, there are qualified professionals to meet this demand, such as librarians. Therefore, to answer Petroleum Manufacturers Email Lists the guiding question “how can librarians contribute to the development of knowledge management, in the organizational context?”, the present work aims to present the possibilities of implementing knowledge management and its practices in companies, by through specialized libraries. The methodology used is based on bibliographical research and a qualitative theoretical approach.
Among the results achieved with the research, it is possible to infer that the professional skills of librarians represent the possibility of improving information management, since being present in company libraries, this professional can add to the process, as they are qualified to organize information and carry out research in the most varied sources of information. Therefore, the guiding question of this research and which will guide the development of the work is “how can librarians, working in specialized libraries, contribute to the development of knowledge management?”. Thus, when combining the environment made up of information and knowledge with the potential of the information professional – in this case, the librarian – it is possible to infer, from De Bem and Ribeiro Junior (2006), that there is a great capacity to create new functions and uses, capable of also assisting in organizational development.
